October 1

We have had so much rain over the last few days...this I love. The sound relaxes me as it pitter patters on the roof. My parakeets have been very noisy today, I think they like the rain as well. I am making great progress with my scrapbook for my friend Denny Lou's 50th. It should be ready for her by our bunco game on Monday night. Then it is back to making my green 1930's style apron. There is always a project awaiting me after each one is complete.

First Blog

Well, I guess I have moved into a new world, the world of blogging. Sounds kinda fun. So we'll see how it goes. The reason for the name I have chosen is that I enjoy creating a variety of things for home, for others and for sale...therefore the name Mercantile. Just like in the old days...The Mercantile was a place where a person could go to purchase a variety of goods. The Homestead part comes from the fact that I do my creating at home...my homestead. Currently I am creating using vintage photos with bits and pieces of old. I glue them onto old bottles, tins, or whatever I come across. I have used some of my own old family photos or some I have found at yard sales or estate sales. I sell at small town craft shows or from time to time I sell in rented spaces in other stores. It works for the time being. Someday, though, I'd like to have a small Merantile area as part of my home to sell goods out of. This way I can still be at home and yet help customers. Isn't fall just a beautiful time of year? We awoke to rain this morning. I am not sure how often I will post here. My friend's 50th birthday is coming and I am making her a "Friends" scrapbook as a gift. I have been saving photos of her and us going to football games, out to lunch, playing bunco, etc. for the 13 years I have known her. So I'd better get at it, huh?
