Target Candy Cane Tin

Since I am drawn to red and white, this candy cane tin at Target caught my eye. I did not buy it. Since I am not working I gotta go easy on the unnecessary items. Do you suppose there maybe one left when they have the after Christmas sales?

Happy Hanukkah

I learned about Hanukkah this week as we did a gift game and our teacher gave us a lesson about it. I also learned there are about 6 different ways to spell Hanukah and they are all correct. As she told the story and lit a candle we would open a gift.

Goodies inside of the box

I guess I got these posts out of order...but there are eight little gifts wrapped up as part of the Hannakah celebration at my ladies bible study this past week. I went with a red & white them with the gifts inside of the box.

Joyous Noel

This was my package ready for the ladies bible study gift game. I wrapped the top and bottom of a shoe box in this fun red & white paper that I got last year at an after Christmas sale. Then added a fresh pine sprig, bells and a tag I had stamped "Joyous Noel" on. It was fun to make.

Me Caroling

Okay, this is probably silly, but I took my own photo caroling. Our church did a huge community service day today. But it was so bitter cold for those of us who went out caroling. I have been wanting to go caroling for many years, but there did not seem to be a group of anyone I knew going out. So when I heard that as part of the community service day there would be caroling...I was very excited about it. I LOVE to sing Christmas Carols! I wanted to blog about my day...so I just took my own photo of me singing. I was so chilled to the bone by the time I got home it litterly took me about to hours to warm up. Temps are going to get worse tonight...Yikes!
I was wearing my red and white scarf and gloves with a santa hat. One guy told me that I was the most Christmasy person out there today. The gloves were so cheap though...we took them back tonight 'cause they fell apart. I need to have someone make me a set from some nice yarn. I don't knit, did learn in high school, but did not really care for it.

Christmas Candy...A Child's Dream

I love this display at the front of Mel's Garden & Nursery. When I get my dream house and have more room I am going to do this. I already have the jars...but want to wait until I have the right backdrop.

This general store or mercantile style cabinet is in Mel's. I am so drawn to anything that looks like it would be in an old general store.

What a great looking box...price was out of my range at $49.00. Maybe I can make my own version of this. This was at Mel's.

Rolls of Ribbon & String

This great ribbon is at Mel's...a Christmas wonderland and shopping experience in Spokane, Wa. I actually bought some of this bakers string from a couple of companies a while back. But I do love the size of these spools. They would look great in a big glass jar in my studio.

Red & White Ribbon...makes me happy

I love Red and White stripes. I found this ribbon at Target. Both the stripes and the red with fur edging are so fun, I can't wait until the go on sale to I can get me some!

Snowflake Craft Show

This sweet little church has a craft and treasure sale every year. I love the name of it-"Snowflake Craft Show." It is one of my favorites and of course I found some goodies in the treasure section (collectibles). So this was a good start at a day of shopping with friend, Karen. There was another little church across the street, but they did not have a collectibles section...only old lady crafts.

Pretty Boxes

I could not pass up this K & Company pasket of semi-ready made boxes. They are all printed with rich patterns on both sides. I can't wait to put them together and put them in a big basket on display. This was at our Michael's stop. Other stops were; Pier One Imports, K-Mart, Macy's and Olive Garden for lunch.

Farm Style Christmas

Another stop in our day was here at the Coeur d' Alene Resort Mall where this, the latest MaryJane product, was. A little camp trailer. It is cute, but too little for my taste. I was hoping to see more in the way of Christmas decorations in the shop...and there really were none. There were a few Christmas linens, but that was it. I was dissappointed.

Fig Pickles Toy Shop

In downtown Coeur d' Alene there is a delightful little toy shop called Fig Pickles...What a great name! This place is so much fun for all ages.

Oh...yummy, yummy and so delicate. Karen made this delicious desert for us as the day came to an end. I need to get the recipe. Karen is a great desert maker.

Farm Queen Crown

Here is one of my crowns in a shop called "Enchanted Farm," which is south of Spokane, Wa.
My mommy has been here to visit lately, so we have been watching a bunch of Christmas movies. I have not been taking many pics of blogging things...so my blog is a bit boring right now. But I will be back at it soon.
My studio is overflowing with goods I have found around town in the various thrift shops. My problem is that I bring them home, clean them up and put them into place, then I think of taking a pic...a little late, I say. Not that I can't shoot them afterwards, but it is not the same when the goodies are in amoungst other "stuff." Hard to see what is new and what I already had. I am so full in my studio...hope I will be able to move into a larger space sometime in the future...my Mercantile...as I call it.

Thanksgiving Blessings

This is the dinner table before we ate at it. I usually have Christmas brought into the house before Thanksgiving ever gets here. This year was not different with evergreens placed here and there along with some of my silver service. Candles are lite, we are ready to fill our plates then sit and dine. It was a lovely meal and time spent with my children. We were also blessed to have both Tim and my mom's here this year.

Grandma Feeds the Chickens

This is my great grandmother, Susanna Tennessee Reeves, from Arkansas. She died before I was born, so I was not privileged enough to meet her.
I love this photo of her feedin' her chickens. I do dream of the day when I can have a place to have my own brood...so I can be just like her.
I pray for my little homestead on the outskirts of town, everyday. Our current home is inside of the city limits and "chickens" are not allowed. So if I can get a place out of town a bit, then I can have my own passel of "girls."

This end cap is at your local Michael's Craft Store...at least it was at mine. I thought it looked rather Dr. Suess like. It seems these two colors are from his Christmas movie. The big day is less than 7 weeks away...yikes I better get started on my decorating.
