A little bit of Farm Life

These cardstock farm animals were part
of a set that I picked through in a booth
at the Farm Chicks Show. I wanted the
ones with no dog eared corners and at least
one of each animal available. So I think I did
a pretty good job of capturing the farm animals
I would want. I did not buy the cat, as I don't
like them and they make me rather sneezy.
Not sure what I will do with these, but I am sure
the right event will come along one day to use them.

Part of My Haul

This grouping is of some the goods I found at
the Farm Chicks Show this past Saturday.
I love old photos, wood items, especially
spools or sewing items, old tins, jars.
So I managed to find a little of all of
these things.

Outside Booth of Gardening Goods

Farm Chicks Show...
These poor people who had booths outside...
they got really dumped on by the rain.
I liked this booth, very green, lush and lovely
to look at.

Goodies Galore

Here is a sampling of the Farm Chicks
goods for sale. Cute cake, huh?
They, of course, have worker bees in
their booth to do all of the selling, whilst
they buzz around greeting folks.
Very fun and festive things to look at.

The Farm Chicks and I

Farm Chicks Show...
Here I am with Serena and Terri, the
Farm Chicks. As I was shopping I was
stopped by Serena and invited to be a
vendor in their show next year.
She said she wanted to invite me but
could not remember how to get ahold
of me. Well, surprise, surprise! That was
nice and I will likely do the show next year.
So I will be making my glittery crowns and
doolie bobbers of all sorts over the next
year to prepare.

Me & Celeste

Farm Chicks Show...
Here I am with Celeste. You can see
her sign between us on the wall.
She will be having some flea markets
in the parking lot of her restaurant soon
She will have one each month from
June through September. I plan to be
a vendor in August and Sept. If I can
get it together I may even do the Jukly
one.

Here's Celeste...

Farm Chicks Show...
Isn't she just the cuttest thing you ever saw?
The absolute nicest person I have ever met.
She is the owner of Chaps, a restaurant in
Spokane that serves great food and the
ambiance is so inviting and homey.
Really eye candy.
Celeste had a large booth in the main hall
at the show.

Dollie Heads

Farm Chicks Show...
These dollie head caught my eye,
so I waited my turn to enter this
crowded booth to get a closer look.
They were on a shelf way in the back.
I picked one up looked at the price
and put it back down. The one of
the far left was $35.00. Which would
not be all bad if one was in the market
for a metal, made in Germany doll
head. If I saw these at a yard sale
I am pretty sure I would give $5 or
$10 bill for them. Maybe I am crazy,
but $35 just seemed like a lot to me,
They were precious, though. I did love that they were metal and made in Germany.

Present Past

I bought some old photos from
Heather Bullard. Her booth was lovely
and had some really cool goods in it.
Here she holds the bag of my photos.
Her hubby was there keeping guard
on one side of the booth, which is
understandable. The booths were
crammed with people and it must
be hard to watch everyone.
He watched our carts for us while we
shopped as well. Karen and I both
had our granny carts with us.
This is a good thing as we filled them up
with lots of fun things. We never would
have been able to carry all of the stuff
we bought. The carts were hard at times
because of the crowds, but I am still glad
we had them.

This booth I loved!

So many things to look at
in this wonderful booth.
Some real eye candy for anyone
who is a collector.
There were bowls of buttons,
watch faces and parts, little bottles,
beads, optical lenses, and much more.
It made my brain spin on how I want
to be watching for old non-working
watches now, so I can get some of these
wonderments to create with.
A very fun booth.

Apronisms

Farm Chicks Show...
Here I am with the author of
The Apron Book and Apronisms,
EllynAnne Geisel.
She signed both of the books I
bought and then we stayed to
hear her presantation about
aprons and her journey with
them.

Sweet Little Black Baby

Farm Chicks Show
I saw this little black baby and fell in love
with her. I think it might have something
to do with the fact that I have little black
grandchildren. She reminded me of them.
She is made from some kind of composite.
She has some chips out of the back of her
head and has tape around her middle.
But she called out to me, so I bought her,
and brought her home with me.
I am not sure how old she is, but I would
guess she is from the 1930's.

Lots of Knitting Needles

Farm Chicks Show...
Now that's a collection!
How many knitting needles does
one need? I am not a big fan of
knitting, so I would never consider
having this many.
This booth is the one that had
bowls of all kinds of "littles."

These little bottles were fun, sold for $1.00 a piece I am too cheap to pay that. But they look great all in a tray together.

Oh, I wanted these stacks of pricecards...but again more than I would pay. They sold for $1.00 a piece. She didsay she would sell them all for a good price. That price was $50.00...could not seepaying that for some cardboard. As cool as they were, I would ratherget something a little more substantialwith that kind of $$.I do love the Mercantile/General storememorabilia, though

Fun display...we saw lots of clock works, watch works, and bowls of odds and ends. This was rightdown my alley.

Bought a few "littles' at this booth.Saw a wire shelf here that I liked, then came back later and it was gone...you snooze, you loose!

This booth belonged to Seven Sisters, and there really were seven sisters! They had some great finds. I planned to come back to this booth, but never did.Love this pie safe.

This fabric tree greeted us when we came into the building for the Farm Chicks Show at the Spokane County Fairgrounds. Not sure of the significance, but it was fun. Big HOWDY sign also greeted us.

Here is a fine looking couple in their grocery store. I do not know who they are or where this is, wish I did.I collect general store photos and memorabilia, so this spoke to me when I saw it. It actually was just laying on a counter at a 31 church 'once a month' rummage sale. I ask about it and none of the ladies knew where it came from. I wanted to buy it, so they said they would find out about it for me. I got a call from them a couple of weeks later saying 'to come and get it.' No charge. How nice, I thought. So I share it with you today.Oh, I do long for things to be like this again...I really do. I miss my childhood and the way things were in the 1950's and 60's. Simple things like "The Little Market" which was our little corner grocery. That divine place had a soda fountain counter in it...I did not know what I was experiencing. We could buy an ice cream cone for 5 cents, that was single scoop. I do not remember ever getting any more than a single. The family budget was tight. But that was still such a treat...I still love ice cream today. Rocky Road is my very favorite, even with all of those great flavors out there. I think it is because it what we got as a kid. We basically had vanilla, chocolate or rocky road, strawberry, and neopolitan to choose from back then.[Photo]

'Olde' guys pose here

One of the things I do when going into town for my monthly DAR meeting is stop by a rummage sale that is put on by 31 local churches. I seem to always find some little treasures there. Last Friday they were having a sale, with everything half off. It kind of a liquidation sale because they close for the summer. So I got this whole group of old photos for about $9.00. I usually go for the lady ones, but there weren't any. That's okay, I like these fine. So they will be added to my collection.

Hasting's gift card got me this...

I had a $10.00 gift card from Hasting's that I won at Bunco recently. So while on my excursion into town today I stopped and cashed it in on this delightful Somerset Life magazine. It is chock full of great ideas...a wonderment for the visual eye, such as mine. I will enjoy every minute of leafing thru this feast for the eye!

Patriotism rules!

I happen to love the olde red, white, and blue! Here are some magnets I got at the $1 store today. I will put them on my ice cream truck to show my patriotism!

Michael's finally gets "with it"

I did not have a coupon today when popping into Michael's. It was not a part of my planned trip into town, but I had the time so thought I better stop in to see what was new. I thought I would ask one of the employees if she had a spare coupon for me. I have seen the gals in there give out coupons from time to time, so it could not hurt to ask. She directed me to the front of the store where there was a newspaper type rack with a stack of the Michael's sale papers in it! I was so surprised. If I had known this I would have done my casual shopping with a different eye...meaning I would have been looking what I could buy using a coupon!
In fact there were two coupons on the paper, good for different dates. So Yippee...Congratulations, Michael's I think you have made a lot of customer's very happy! Not sure what took you so long, but glad you are on board.

Noah's Ice Cream Business for sale

Well, we decided to sell my ice cream truck business. So I have listed it on craigslist. I have been getting responses, so we will see what happens. I have really been suffering from the heat and being out it in selling ice cream has become more and more difficult for me. So we will sell the business that my daughter started 11 years ago now. She named it after her son, Noah. When she got married I bought it from her and have been the ice cream lady every since. It is hard to let it go, but sometimes we have to do the hard stuff.

My Mother's Day Gift

I had wanted a mother's ring for quite a few years now. When I got up on Mother's day this year my thought was "Well, I probably won't get it a mother's ring again this year." I was thinking that the kids had probably not planned ahead to make that happen. But, alas, to my surprise they had, thanks to my oldest daughter, Sarah. When my son, Tyler, arrived here to go to church with us, he said to check my email, so I went in and looked and there it was! Yeah, a mothers ring for me!
Sarah picked this design and it perfectly holds my four children's name and birthstones. It also represents my first love, a cross for my Lord Jesus Christ. I took this picture of the screen because the ring is in shipment and will be here in a day or so. I am very excited to get it.
Is this a great gift or what?
Thanks to my four darlins'...you are the best! I love you so much!!!

Thoms Travel...here we come

Here is our new business card. Yes, Tim and I have become Referring Travel Agents. We are very excited about this new venture.
Tim has been in the construction field for many years and it is beginning to take it's tole on his body. He needs a knee replacement too. Plus we have no retirement..so we knew we needed to find something to get us through our next stage of life.

We both LOVE to travel, who doesn't? So when we heard about this opportunity we decided to give it a go.
We are in training, but already beginning to book travel from our site. We would be grateful for you to book us as well. Our site usually offers the best going price for flights, hotels, more. We would appreciate you giving us your travel needs business.

I have not posted much lately...been busy training. I hope to get back to it soon. I will be at my DAR convention for the next three days. I need to take some new pics in my studio since I have been finding some fun finds at the thrift shop. So I will be posting those soon.
